PD Dr. Katrin Berndt
(FMS I) Katrin Berndt is Associate Professor of British and Anglophone Literatures
and Cultures at the University of Bremen. A former fellow of the Institute for Advanced
Studies in the Humanities (University of Edinburgh) and at Chawton House Library/University
of Southampton, Berndt’s research interests include contemporary fiction, postcolonial
studies, and British literature and culture of the long eighteenth century. She has
published the monographs Female Identity in Contemporary Zimbabwean Fiction
(2005) and Yoko Ono – In Her Own Write (1999), and has co-edited the volumes
Heroism in the Harry Potter Series (with Lena Steveker, 2011) and Words
and Worlds: African Writing, Literature, and Society (with Susan Arndt, 2007).
Her most recent monograph, Narrating Friendship and the British Novel, 1760-1830
will be published by Routledge in 2016.
