Fiction Meets Science Preparatory Workshop II

Northwestern Germany at the University of Bremen’s Center for Marine Environmental Sciences (October 12) and the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (October 13)

This workshop was part of an effort to lay the groundwork for FMS. Sociologists, literary scholars, novelists, and scientists from around the world gathered to discuss the proposed research plans and to experiment with the format for the FMS author readings and expert talks. High points included public readings and discussions of the science novels Wegener's Jigsaw and Mendel's Dwarf by authors Clare Dudman and Simon Mawer, with commentary by FMS scientists and scholars.
