Professor Jürgen Rullkötter

Jürgen Rullkötter is professor emeritus of organic geochemistry at the University of Oldenburg and an active member of the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative Research Board. His research focuses on the molecular make-up of fossil organic matter and its application to understanding the processes of petroleum formation and microbial transformations in natural oil seeps and anthropogenic oil spills, and to reconstructing ancient environments and climates based on the organic matter in marine sediments.
