Ulrike Syha
Award-winning playwright Ulrike Syha was in residence from January through June of
2020, during which time she interviewed local scientists and worked on Das Labor,
a new science play slated for production at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater.
Ulrike Syha has worked as a dramaturg, director and playwright. Her plays have been performed at theaters throughout Germany, and her translations include works by Martin Crimp, Davide Enia, Wallace Shawn, Alan Ayckbourn. Syha was awarded the prestigious Kleist-Förderpreis for young dramatists for her play Autofahren, the Hamburger Literaturpreis for Der öffentliche Raum, and the Autorenpreis des Heidelberger Stückemarkts für Drift. Her plays Nomaden and Privatleben were nominated for the Mülheim Dramatists’ Award. Other honors include the Robert-Gernhardt-Preis.
