Susan M. Gaines

Susan Gaines is "Writer in Residence" in the Faculty of Languages and Literature at the University of Bremen. She did graduate work in organic chemistry at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, before abandoning the laboratory for literary pursuits. Her short stories have appeared in The Missouri Review, the North American Review, and other literary magazines and anthologies. Her novel Carbon Dreams was an experiment with science in literary fiction, and her book, Echoes of Life: What Fossil Molecules Reveal about Earth History (with Eglinton and Rullk├Âtter), was an experiment with narrative and literary prose in the factual presentation of scientific results.
