Dr. Uwe Spörl
Uwe Spörl is a Senior Lecturer in modern German literature and Dean of Studies at
the University of Bremen. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Erlangen where
he then participated in the DFG-Project "Romantic Anthropology." He is the author
of the Basislexikon Literaturwissenschaft (2004) and has published in numerous
fields, including the relationship between knowledge and literature, modes of literary
perception, space and order, the concept of genius in literary history, Expressionism,
and the New Objectivity. His research interests include narrative theory, hermeneutics
and literary theory, metafiction, comparative contemporary literature, and the crime
novel, and, most recently, science in fiction.
