Professor Wilfried Wackernagel

Wilfried Wackernagel is a professor of genetics whose research emphasis has been on the molecular mechanisms of genetic recombination, processes of horizontal gene transfer, and safety issues of transgenic plants. He is a Professor Emeritus in the Institute of Biology and Environmental Sciences at the University of Oldenburg and a member of various national and international committees and working groups dealing with biological safety, gene technology, and novel genetic methods in plant breeding.
